Stay Safe: How to Avoid Fake Coupons and Shopping Scams

By the ZuVoCo team · Updated October 2026

Warning signs of fake coupons, phishing links and too-good-to-be-true offers, and how to shop safely online in India.

Red flags in a “deal”

Be careful with offers that promise 90% off on new phones, ask you to pay a “registration fee” to unlock a coupon, or arrive from an unknown number on WhatsApp. Genuine store coupons never require you to pay anything before checkout.

Check the website address

Before entering payment details, look at the address bar. Scam sites often use names that look almost right, with an extra letter or a different ending. When you use the Shop button on ZuVoCo, you are sent to the store’s official site or its official partner tracking link.

Never share OTPs or PINs

No store, bank or coupon platform will ask for your OTP, UPI PIN or card CVV over a call or chat. Receiving money on UPI never requires entering a PIN — if a “refund” or “cashback” asks for your PIN, it is a scam.

Report suspicious coupons

ZuVoCo’s Community Guidelines prohibit fake or misleading coupons. If you see one, report it to our support team at zuvoco.rewards@tabularise.com so we can review and remove it. You can also report cyber fraud in India at cybercrime.gov.in or by calling 1930.
